Last year one of our Kentwood residents, Jack Hughes, lost his 8 lb. dog when it was attacked by a larger dog which had escaped its home on Dunfield Avenue. Jack filed a complaint with the Department of Animal Control, but when he and witnesses arrived for the hearing they were told that the Animal Control Supervisor had already reached an agreement with the larger dog’s owners which amounted to littleĀ more than a reminder to keep their dog secured.
The larger dog had a history or aggression, but this history was either unknown to the Supervisor or ignored. It is imperative that residents report aggressive dog behavior to establish a track record for dangerous animals. Please make reports to City of LA Animal Control – West LA Center, 888.452.7381.
